Eligibility requirement: English proficiency assessed at LINC Level 5 and above.

The new session begins on August 23, 2010 and includes 8 weeks of in-class training followed by 4-weeks of voluntary work placement in a local business or community agency - a work setting matched to client’s interest and goals.

Dieppe Memorial Dedication

Aug 19, 2010 - The Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment invite children to bring their families to Dieppe Gardens 19 August for the historic unveiling and dedication of the Dieppe Memorial. This family-centered event will honour and remember the Regimental Fallen of 19 August 1942.

Guests are asked to assemble in Dieppe Gardens for 12:30 pm. and to bring their lawn chairs. Dedication will take place at 1:00 p.m. where Veterans and children will walk hand-in-hand into Dieppe Gardens with the peel of the bagpipes and the roll of the drums calling all to reflect, remember and honour those who came back home but most importantly those from southwestern, Ontario who rest in foreign soil.

We Will Remember Them.

North Wall Riders Honour Regimental Fallen

Aug 18, 2010 - In honour and remembrance of the Regimental Fallen and in support of the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment’s Dieppe Memorial Project II, the North Wall Riders Association will conduct a memory run August 18th 2010 through downtown Windsor.

Starting from the RCL Branch 143 on 1560 Marentette Avenue, about 8:15 p.m., a contingent of 30-35 members of the North Wall Riders Association will ride their motorcycles (with their flags) over to Ouellette Avenue, north to Riverside Drive, proceed west to Crawford Avenue and return east along Riverside Drive and Ouellette Avenue where they will park their motorcycles. This will take place at “dusk” as to have a solemn impact on their “statement” of support to the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment’s candlelight vigil in Dieppe Gardens at 9:00 p.m.

Children are invited to bring their families to attend this service and to take an active part in remembrance of the Dieppe Memorial Project II, “A Child Shall Lead the Way” in honour of the Regimental Fallen who paid the ultimate sacrifices on the stony beaches of Dieppe, France 19 August 1942 so that society could enjoy those basic freedoms denied by so many the world over.

Dive 4 Distress 2010 Charity Volleyball Tournament

Aug 15, 2010 - Beat the summertime blahs with an Event which will provide you with much entertainment and fun, allow you the opportunity to partake in an enjoyable physical activity, and at the same time, help raise funds and awareness for a very valued and highly sought out Community Agency, The Distress Centre of Windsor-Essex County.

This Fourth Annual Tournament will be held on Sunday, August 15th, 2010 at The Teutonia Club of Windsor. A maximum of 16 teams will be able to participate. Each team will be required to have a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 8 players, including at least 3 women and a maximum of 3 men per team on the court at all times. Games will commence at 12 noon, and will go on until the tournament concludes (expected to be around 6 pm).
